Course Title: Community Service Learning
Course Code: LSH 2903
Instructor: Gregory Vrhovnik
Email: gvrhovnik@hct.ac.ae
General Description:
This course is
designed to provide students with an appreciation of why people volunteer and
the impact their volunteering service can have on those whom they seek to
assist (and themselves).
Starting with a
theoretical approach to the concepts behind volunteering the course will move
on to a major volunteering project where you can demonstrate your capabilities
to the wider public here in the UAE. For this semester you will be working with
different local organizations as part of your own project in Abu Dhabi.
This is a great
opportunity for all students to interact with local schools and the general
public under the guidance of the local groups.
Please remember to
check the Blackboard Learn site for this course to make sure you are up to date
with any tasks/requirements or possible changes to the schedule.
I wish you well as
you start on this course and want to assure you that I, the College and the
local organisers will do everything possible to make sure that you are provided
with a most rewarding experience during your volunteering service.
Gregory Vrhovnik, Abu Dhabi Men’s College
